It’s hard to believe we’re writing our last recipe of the year! To celebrate an exciting end to 2019, we’re making it extra special by having our kid chefs create their own ‘un-smoothie’ recipes and Holiday Granola that they can take home. We hope this recipe gets you and your kid's into the holiday spirit. Who doesn’t love a homemade gift?
Granola makes a great breakfast or snack option, and it packs away nicely in a lunch box. Most store-bought granolas are like candy bars: packed with sugar and other not-so-healthy ingredients. The alternative is to make your own, and luckily homemade granola is simple to make! Paired with yogurt or milk, it’s a healthier alternative to sweetened cereal and store-bought granola bars- plus, it’s super adaptable so it never gets boring.
With most of our Cool-inary Confidence Classes, the focus is less on cooking skills and more on inspiring creativity and teamwork in the kitchen. This week, the only cooking required is toasting the oats. The yogurt whip is so easy and fun and it comes together in 30 seconds (tops) in a mixing bowl... The Un-smoothie is more of an Un-recipe. We taught your kids how to explore and create any combination of smoothies that their imaginations can dream up - without needing a recipe!
You might have more down-time than usual before the winter holidays begin, what about whipping up a batch of homemade granola and having your kids deliver to your neighbors, friends and family to spread some delicious winter holiday cheer? Who knows, your kids may start feeling so charitable that they will want help wash dishes, dry dishes, and organize the kitchen with you after some granola making... One can only hope!
Wishing you all a very peaceful, joyful holiday break. See you next year!
