Growing up in Baltimore, Chloe was the child who never stopped asking to cook. After a long, happy run with an Easy-Bake Oven, she remembers lobbying her mom over and over again — nine “no’s” before the tenth turned into a “yes.” That mix of enthusiasm and cheerful persistence remains a big part of who Chloe is.
Her early love of food and cooking grew into a serious interest in kids’ health. Over the next two decades, Chloe became a college athlete (a swimmer), studied child development, and built a career as a children’s health policy analyst. She zeroed in on how early childhood programs could support healthy eating and physical activity. Later, as a regional manager for a national early childhood health promotion program, she supported preschools as they adopted better nutrition and wellness practices. In short, she turned big ideas about kids’ health into real change in classrooms.
At home, all that expertise meets real life. Now a mom of three (10, 8, and 4), Chloe, who is well-versed in the research, invites her kids into the process… with memorable, if sometimes imperfect, results. Currently, each child gets to pick dinner once a week. (They’re not all foodie-meals, but Chloe shared that last week, her four-year-old chose pesto pasta with shrimp!). All three kids are comfortable in the kitchen, and know how to crack eggs, and like to help. So far, only the two older children have taken lots of Sticky Fingers Cooking® classes, and at home the same philosophy applies. “They may not love every new food they try, but they’re asked to taste it, even if they don’t want to keep eating it.”
Chloe's favorite Sticky Fingers Cooking recipe to make at home? Hands-down, it’s the Crispy Cauliflower Fritter Bites.
Chloe’s move from policy work to Sticky Fingers Cooking started in Denver’s Highlands neighborhood. On walks with her two young kids, she kept passing a house with a brightly painted Sticky Fingers Cooking van parked out front. Curious, she reached out to its owner – founder Erin Fletter. Over coffee, they found shared common passions in scratch cooking, kids’ health and nutrition, and food as a way to explore culture and nurture curiosity. Two months later, Chloe joined Sticky Fingers Cooking part-time, helping manage chefs and support kids’ cooking classes and bringing those values to life in schools and community spaces.
As Sticky Fingers Cooking grew, her role grew with it, shifting from supporting individual classes to shaping how new territories get up and running. Through each change, she remains immensely grateful for the flexibility and support she’s found with the team.
“Erin and the team have been incredibly supportive in enabling me to stay on through the different iterations of my life,” she says. “It’s not lost on me that I’ve been able to keep working here and still go to my kids’ Halloween parties and be really present in their lives.”
It’s a sentiment that flows both ways. Erin says, “Chloe and I have worked together since 2018, and she’s a rare blend of heart, brilliance, and steady presence. She’s a magnetic connector who brings people in, lifts them up, and strengthens our whole organization as National Outreach Director. Watching her grow and lead — in life and at SFC — has been a true privilege. She’s the secret ingredient every brand wishes they had!”
Today, as Sticky Fingers Cooking’s National Director of Outreach, Chloe helps new Franchise Owners connect with their local communities, partner with local schools and organizations, and grow their SFC businesses. When someone joins Sticky Fingers Cooking as a Franchise Owner, they usually bring a variation of the same core dream: a wish to do meaningful work within a business model that fits into their own lives. While the basic outreach model is the same across the country, every local landscape is different. Chloe researches the local policies, practices and programs and works collaboratively with Franchise Owners to map out outreach possibilities that support sustainable growth.
Chloe shares outreach templates and talking points as a starting place, and together they decide who to contact and how to follow up. She calls it a “tapered support system”— lots of hands-on guidance in the beginning, then stepping back as owners gain confidence and momentum. Not so different, really, from supporting kids as they find their own way in the world.
For Chloe, helping others build opportunities for kids all over the country is extremely rewarding. For parents and caregivers, her behind-the-scenes work simply looks like this: Sticky Fingers Cooking classes and out-of-school-time camps woven into their schools and communities, and kids who come home excited about the delicious recipes that they created all by themselves!
