Spookylicious Sips: Ghoulishly Good Halloween Smoothie for Kids!

  • What do you call a witch who lives at the beach? A sand-witch!
  • What do you call a mummy’s favorite type of music? Wrap music!
  • What’s a vampire's favorite fruit? A blood orange!

Ah, Halloween has crept up on us once again and if you’re looking for a fun drink for your little monsters, this sweet pea green goblin smoothie is just the ticket! It’s a sweet, creamy, and terrifyingly delicious concoction as well as a bewitchingly clever way to ensure kids are well-nourished and fueled up for a night of spooky adventures. It’s also both gluten-free and nut-free, so it keeps the scares where they belong – in the decorations.

If you’ve never tried green peas in a smoothie before, don’t be afraid! These little green wonders pack a nutritional punch – protein and fiber to keep your kiddos full and satisfied, plus a sizable dose of vitamin C which plays a role in controlling infections and healing wounds. All that goodness and you can’t even taste them! Instead, you’ll taste the creamy banana, rich chocolate, and refreshing mint.

Sweet Pea Green Goblin Smoothie
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 1/2 frozen bananas (see Tip below)
  • 1/3 cup frozen peas
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (or a handful of chocolate chips)
  • 1 tablespoon honey + more to taste
  • 1 fresh mint leaf (or a basil leaf or a drop of peppermint extract)

Optional spooky enhancements: colorful straws, candy eyeballs, and a dry-erase marker for decorating the glasses.

Tip: The secret to this smoothie’s thick, milkshake-like consistency is the frozen banana. Don’t skip it!

1.  pour + add
Pour the milk and water into the blender. Add the bananas, peas, unsweetened cocoa powder, and honey.

2.  tear + blend + serve
Tear up a mint leaf and add it to the blender. Put the lid on the blender and blend until smooth and thick. Pour the smoothie into glasses.

3.  dress it up then drink it up!
For maximum effect, it’s time to get creative with your presentation! Grab a fun, colorful straw, sprinkle some candy eyeballs on top, and use a dry-erase marker to draw a goblin’s face right on the glass! Now drink up your scary-good Sweet Pea Green Goblin Smoothie!

Here’s to a hauntingly fun Halloween with memorable moments and a few fun jump-scares!
