Why shop small?

November 9, 2022 by Emily Moore

Small Business Saturday is on Saturday, November 26, 2022!

  • Why did the doughnut maker start their own shop?  They loved the hole business!
  • Why did the electrician close business one day a week? Because business was light.
  • Business is up and down at the moment; I sell yo-yos.
  • I started a hot air balloon business... It is taking off like the wind!
  • I’ve started a business making boats in my attic. Sails are going through the roof.

According to some sources, small businesses in the U.S. currently employ nearly half of the workforce, create 2/3 of all new jobs, and account for more than 40% of the gross domestic product? They’re also vitally important for local economies. American Express estimates that for every $100 spent at a small business, around $70 remains in the local community.

But true value is about more than money, right? The less tangible benefits are just as significant. I’m talking about the unique personalities of all small businesses that define the vibrancy and character of a given community – the independent cafes, taquerias, barbershops, nail salons, and dog groomers that make a place specifically, vibrantly that place.

Small Business Saturday takes place every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and it’s a FANTASTIC time to support small businesses. It’s also a great time to reflect on the many impacts of how and where we choose to spend our money. As we move into the holiday season, please keep in mind that when you think BIG and shop small, you’re investing in your community in all kinds of ways.

And maybe, just maybe, Small Business Saturday is calling to you in another way... Maybe you’re a person who dreams about making things happen in your community. Maybe you’re passionate about bringing educational opportunities to children in your community. Maybe for any number of reasons, you’re looking to exercise all your professional magic from home.

Has Small Business Saturday got you daydreaming about starting YOUR OWN business? If so, please take note of this recent news: Sticky Fingers Cooking now offers local franchise opportunities nationwide! In other words, it’s a chance to own and manage your own Sticky Fingers Cooking business. You don’t have to be a chef or experienced entrepreneur to participate – take it from our very own founder and CEO who started this business from her kitchen table while raising a family of three.

Couldn’t you just go out and build your ‘lil something from scratch? Heck, yes, and if that’s your passion, we say ‘go for it!’ At the same time, we recognize that some folks want to have their own business AND follow a proven business recipe for success.

Some of what makes Sticky Fingers Cooking an attractive franchise business:
  • We’re a successful, established business – we’ve been teaching kids to cook since 2011!
  • We’re not new to national operations – prior to franchising, we’ve been cooking in 3 states for nine years!
  • We have a talented executive management team of 28 people who have been with us, on average, for eight years!
  • We utilize Sticky Fingers Cooking DASH™, a proprietary technology platform for scheduling, booking classes, managing enrollments, CRM, and is an all-inclusive business management tool.
  • We’re a low-cost, flexible, and quick-start-up that can be run from a home office – just ask our CEO!
  • We’re a win-win business for kids, schools, families, and communities!
