Are you a woman who stepped off the career path to focus on your family? Did you suspend or adjust your paid work to nurture littles or tend to teens, and now have a gap on your resume? We get it. In fact, many of us at Sticky Fingers Cooking made the same choice. We traded a single income-generating job for a host of others: impromptu cook, master scheduler, trusted doctor, empathetic therapist, insightful teacher, and reliable chauffeur.
How did we do it? We just did. We figured out what we needed to know by reading books and blogs, asking seasoned experts, and tapping into our growing network of fellow Moms. While “staying at home” we honed an extraordinary set of skills. We:
We firmly believe that women, especially mothers, make excellent entrepreneurs. Our unique journeys, qualifications, and leadership abilities may differ from traditional ones, but they are equally—if not more—potent and effective! Why? For starters, women tend to be more relational so our decision making is often more collaborative and inclusive. Relatedly, we’re generally open to seeking help, involving experts, and engaging others to brainstorm solutions. We’re often driven by the conviction that we need to work twice as hard to reach the same milestones as our male counterparts - a belief that fuels our unwavering tenacity.
So, yeah, those gaps on your résumé? We don’t mind them at all. In fact, we practically insist on them.
