Crispy (cheesy) Corn Dog Bites on a Stick + Honey Mustard Dip + Summer Garden Pickles + Fresh Frozen Lemonade

Happy Summer! Sticky Fingers Cooking is currently out of our development kicthen and busy cooking up fun with our summer campers - We will be back for the 2019/2020 school year with ALL new recipes each and every week... See you in September!

PERFECTION = One stick + one hot dog + some corn cheese batter + crispy golden brown. All hail the corn dog! The corn dog is, in my opinion, one of America’s greatest food contributions to the world... so far.

I’m sure you have been wondering for years where this magical mix of corn and dog originated. The Corn Dog was patented in 1927 in the midwest.

I grew up in Southern California surrounded by the Hot Dog on A Stick fast food chains... the first Hot Dog on a Stick was located in Venice Beach, California. That was in 1946, and today the chain has blossomed into a total of more than 100 outlets in shopping malls across America. You've probably seen the bright red, white, blue and yellow go-go outfits and those crazy fez-style bucket hats on the workers behind the counter. I grew up eating the Cheese on a Stick, something my parents let me eat as a special treat. I will never forgot how wonderful I thought they were. Now Hot Dog on a Stick offers veggie corn dogs. I need to try one someday.

Do you love corn dogs? Here are a few reasons why corn dogs should be on your list to make this summer:
* Eating a corn dog will remind you of going to a baseball game or going to the mall in the 1980's
* Easy family dinner idea (make these in under 15 minutes) *my favorite reason
* It's the perfect summer food
* Recreate your favorite childhood memory with corn dogs with your kids
* You can make these 100% vegan or 100% not... YOU choose your favorite "dog"!
* Great game day appetizer for a crowd
* They are so much fun to make with your kids
* Cook it in the oven for a crispier (and healthier) corn dog

This delectable (junk) food is found across a spectrum of locations nationwide: fairs, circuses, shopping malls, sporting events, and even the frozen food section of grocery stores. BUT Have your ever made your own corn dog?

This week at Sticky Fingers Cooking, our students are going to usher in the summer with our healthier recipe for Crispy (cheesy) Corn Dog Bites on a Stick. We will also make a simple Honey Mustard Dip and QUICK Summer Garden Pickles to accompany our heavenly "dogs" and wash it all down with a wonderful Fresh Frozen Lemonade... BRING ON SUMMER!
